Improve Search Engine Ranking

I have a website, but I can't find it without Googling my business name

Just having a website isn’t enough, you need SEO to build up your rankings in Google so that you appear further up in Google searches. Keywords are very important as they link directly to SEO, meaning that if somebody searches one of your keywords in Google, they’re more likely to find your business

I paid for SEO services a year ago, why aren't I still at the top of Google?

SEO is ongoing, but the content needs to change; it needs to stay fresh and up to date.  You can keep some of your SEO content the same, but you must strike a balance between what is relevant and what is new.

Visitor Conversion

I get lots of visitors to my site and even sign ups to my mailing list but not very many people actually buy anything.

People don’t just visit a site and buy straight away… well very few do. So you have to make the visitor want to stay on your site and then you have to make them enjoy their experience. This involves:

  • making sure your menus are easily accessible with all pages easy to find
  • prominent contact details on every page
  • testimonials from happy customers
  • use of email marketing– this is a prime chance to interact with clients as it means that when they need to buy, they’ll think of your emails and hopefully buy

Online Advertising and Pay Per Click

I have a Google Adwords campaign and it's getting lots of click but people don't stay on my website.

The important thing is that your website needs to be appealing once the customer lands on it. The problem could also be that you are attracting the wrong type of person with your keywords. E.g.people searching for eye glasses aren’t going to click on your ad if it’s for wine glasses, so you need a stronger keyword than just ‘glasses’.

What kind of businesses would benefit most from using PPC advertising?

Almost all businesses should be using online advertising! However, there are several kinds of businesses in particular that will really benefit from online/PPC advertising:

  • New businesses that need to get their brand out there
  • Businesses that offer a large range of products or services
  • Businesses that sell products/services that are rare or difficult to find

Another advantage of Pay Per Click advertising is that it’s instant, and the right keywords can lead to return on investment (ROI).

Also, if done properly, PPC does not need to be expensive – which means that all businesses can afford to use it.

Web Hosting

Why do hosting packages range from £3 a month with some providers to £30 a month with others?' Isn't it just somewhere to put my website?

Basically, you get what you pay for. If you’re paying as little as £3 a month, you’re paying for no tech support, limited storage space, no back ups, no alternative if there’s any server outage, limited security etc. However it does depend on what you’re storing. Typically, you don’t really need a vast amount of space so make sure you’re not overcharged for web hosting.
